ARTEC’s NS option: the ideal rod seal for applications exposed to external deposits
When it comes to the performance of a pneumatic cylinder, the choice of the rod seal is a key factor. A well-designed solution helps to increase system reliability, protect components from contamination, and reduce maintenance requirements over time.
In this context, ARTEC’s NS option has been developed: a rod seal designed for applications where it is essential to limit the ingress of external contaminants such as dirt, residues, and fluids, while ensuring high performance even in demanding operating conditions.
A bi-functional solution for clean environments
This seal stands out for its high wear resistance and its bi-functional design, which combines sealing and wiping functions in a single element. This solution effectively protects the pneumatic cylinder by keeping the front area of the cylinder cleaner and helping to preserve overall system efficiency.
In addition, the absence of dead spaces makes the front area of the seal easy to clean. The combination of these features helps improve cylinder protection and reduce the build-up of impurities in critical areas.
Suitable material for direct food-contact applications
This seal is made from P5000 polyurethane, compliant with FDA standards, an important feature for applications that require materials suitable for use in clean and controlled environments.
The choice of compound, together with the optimised profile geometry, ensures smooth operation, good resistance to fluids, and a long service life.
ARTEC’s NS rod seal is therefore an efficient solution, particularly suitable for applications where hygiene is a fundamental requirement, such as the food and pharmaceutical industries.
Performance and technical features
The NS option is available for ISO 15552 Standard cylinders from Ø32 to Ø100 mm, with an operating temperature range from -20°C to +85°C.
- Bi-functional element combining sealing and wiping functions
- Robust profile, designed to operate under harsh operating conditions
- Product geometry designed to prevent residue build-up on the front side of the cylinder
- P5000 polyurethane, compliant with FDA standards and suitable for food-processing applications
- High wear resistance
- Smooth sliding, achieved through an optimised sealing lip geometry capable of retaining lubricant
- Low permanent deformation
- Favourable friction coefficients and long service life, thanks to the coordinated design of the seal and wiper.
ARTEC’s NS option rod seal combines sealing and wiping functions in a single FDA-compliant solution, ensuring reliable performance and high hygiene standards in demanding industrial environments.
